Field Notes

Description:

The range of the Malachite Butterfly extends from Mexico to Brazil, where it is one of the most frequently sighted species.

Notes:

Although I saw many wild individuals of this species during my time in Nicaragua, the only photo I was able to get was of this resident of the Mariposario at Finca Esperanza Verde. Typically they raise a number of species, but had recently experienced an unexplained mass die-off, leaving only this and one other species.
