Field Notes

Habitat:

Flickers may be observed in open habitats near trees, including woodlands, edges, yards, and parks. In the western United States, one can find them in mountain forests all the way up to treeline. Northern Flickers generally nest in holes in trees like other woodpeckers.

Notes:

-pictured Flicker must have died by flying into window.

Beginning now, we are going to begin a mission-wide contest of the best woodpecker photograph. I will exclude my own photography. I should pick a winner around the end of 2 weeks. Good luck!
Wow! Sad it died, but thats a great view of the underbelly. Thanks Mike!
