Gatekeeper are both, so which one ;-)??
I already commented that I am tending towards Pyronia tithonus, the Gatekeeper. If you have a confirmation (Eduardo Marabuto, Ernestino Maravalhas?), you might add the correct scientific name in the corresponding field.
I apologize, the correct taxonomic tree should certainly be:
Nymphalidae, Satyrinae, Satyrini, Maniolia, Pyronia sp.
Do you have other pictures of it??
Nymphalidae, Nymphalinae, Maniolini, Pyronia sp. and most probably either Pyronia tithonus, the Gatekeeper or Pyronia cecilia, the Southern Gatekeeper and I also guess it is a male. We would need more pictures to separate the 2 almost identical species.
I would slightly tend to the Gatekeeper.
