Description:
Both the upper and lower sides of the leaves are covered in large thorns (trichomes). it produces a bright orange fruit which is a popular drink in Ecuador and Peru.
Habitat:
A native of Central and northern South America, This plant prefers partial shade over direct sunlight.
Notes:
This specimen is located at the Tulsa Zoo.
