Species ID Suggestions

Longhorn Beetle

Callichromatini

Comments (1)

Cerambycidae, Cerambycinae, Callichromatini. I thought it would be much easier to ID this one, but unfortunately it is extremely tricky, since all these beetles look the same, mostly differ in the color of the legs and some color schemes, which are, however, also not really helpful, because of museums and wildlife species. The one in the link above is Mionochroma aureotinctum, quite a nice match. If you check other Mionochroma aureotinctum, you see only orange legs: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4276&w=n This is Mionochroma nivella from Nicaragua: http://www.nhmus.hu/ColeoColl/kepek/TRIPREPORTS/Reports/2007.,%20NICARAGUA/nic033.jpg Another Mionochroma aureotinctum from Guyana: http://www.entomoservice.fr/images/aureo.png This is Callichroma holochlorum holochlorum: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4335&w=n from Santo Domingo, Nicaragua and Colombia. The body shape looks slightly different compared with yours, but the genus might be the same? Callichroma iris trilineatum from Brazil: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4274&w=n Callichroma sericeum from Southern America: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4257&w=n Callichroma cosmicum from Honduras: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4249&w=n Callichroma batesi from Costa Rica: https://apps2.cdfa.ca.gov/publicApps/plant/bycidDB/wdetails.asp?id=4245&w=n So I am tending to Callichroma sp. or Mionochroma sp., but no clue for separating the 2 genus. I think it is not possible to ID down to genus or even species level without experts and/or DNA or genital examination.
