At a muddy patch near a lake in the White Mountains near the Kangamangus Highway, New England, USA

Off course!!!! It can not be a cat! I did not measure the prints but I guess they were about 5 - 7 cm in lenght. Red Fox? Exciting. Thank you KarenPuracan and AshleyT
Moved to the mammals category. And I agree it's a canid
Since I can see what appear to be claw-marks, I am inclined to say this is a dog track, as cats sheath their claws as they walk. My guess is red fox- the tracks can be from 2-3 inches long and 1.5 - 2.3 inches wide.
