Starry Puffer

According to local lore, a bokor (voodoo witch doctor) can capture a part of the soul and turn a person into a zombie.
In reality they used puffer fish to mix up a poison that will paralyse its victim, making them appear dead. The family would bury the victim and the bokor would remove the body from the grave, pretend to magically return the soul (the poison would wear off) and the person would recover believing that they were saved from being a zombie.
Everyone would then do whatever the bokor wanted because of his incredible magical powers.
