Field Notes

Description:

Brown Sparrow with speckled chest and stripe across the eye. It blended in very well with the dirt and only flew when I was right next to it. I believe this is a Song Sparrow.

Habitat:

Along trail near Lake Hodges in Rancho Bernardo.

The face isn't a reliable field mark in these photos. I based my ID off of the short tail and the fine streaking on the pale flanks.

Thank you for the ID Liam. I wouldn't have thought that based on these images (sorry not so good). I didn't notice any yellow on the face. I'll update the ID now :)
