Description:

Olive above with reddish crown, distinct white throat by dark stripe & white stripes.

Habitat:

Possum Branch Preserve in dense shrubbery near a pond.

Notes:

This bird is a rare sighting in Florida

Sorry you didn't see it. It's quite a good looking bird despite my bad picture. It never would come out of the shadows and it kept scratching & hopping in the way of the towhees.
Feeding the bird seed was a good idea. The towhee that stayed in Athens was on private property (but visible from the road), so no sprinkling bird seed there. It isn't the same bird, because this Towhee in Florida was reported before and during the bird in Georgia was being seen. Once again, congrats on finding him. I wasn't able to get out to see the one in Georgia. :\
yep! Still here...but, someone is sprinkling seed on the ground so it might be hanging out for that...hey, maybe we have your bird!
Congrats. He's still around? The GTTO in Athens here in Georgia disappeared sometime early last month.
