Description:

dark brown with large and small bumps

Habitat:

was next to my small waterfall pond

Notes:

Note sure if this is a toad or a frog -as I did see it in the shallow end of my pond for a while.

Thank you James and Gordon. I think you are both absolutely correct.
I agree with James, this looks like a Southern Toad. Notice the two big bumps just behind the eyes and the two ridges that run from them to the nose. See http://www.wec.ufl.edu/extension/wildlife_info/frogstoads/anaxyrus_terrestris.php for more information.
I had taken it out of the shallow end of the pond (thus the wet skin) as I wasn't sure if it fell in or not and it seemed in distress. I just set it on the rock to take photos and then left it alone. I checked later and it didn't return to the water. Very bumpy skin compared to the bullfrogs and no green in sight.
I think, you´re right with the toad, allthough the skin seems to be very wet. But looking a second time, it can´t be a bullfrog, you´re definitvely right.
I don't think so Hans, I have several photos of the American Bullfrog and none look like this one. I think this maybe a toad?
