Description:
The gills are repeatedly forked, making them look like the false gills
of chanterelles at first, which is where the name comes from. They are peach to orange-colored, which a lighter rim on the cap and a darker stipe. The stipe is also much thinner and sturdier than that of chanterelles. They were very abundant in this area, with at least 100 within a 20 foot radius.
Habitat:
Mossy ground under Sitka Spruce trees in a residential area. This spot doesn't often get disturbed by people though.
