Description:

Also known as African Rock Pigeon, this is a large (size of Wood Pigeon) grey-and-rusty-red pigeon, easily distinguished by white speckles on wing covers and bare red skin around eyes. Sexes alike.

Habitat:

This is a resident breeding bird in much of sub-Saharan Africa, and inhabits rocky areas and cliffs, and towns and cities. It roams the fields and grasslands for feeding. Here, observed around the town Awasa, and on shores of lake Awasa, a wooded area excellent for bird-watching.
