Field Notes

Description:

Face mostly grey. May have a long neck that's tucked in. Patch of rust brown on neck. Sharp tapered long bill looks like it is used for spearing fish. Black wings with grey tops. Long tail.

Habitat:

Spotted perched above water on a log in New Orleans Audubon Park on Feb. 5, 2012.

Notes:

I think it's a heron.
