Field Notes

Description:

Chocolaty and velvety petals, dark colored stamens. A small herbaceous plant with height approximately 10-15 inches.

Habitat:

Spotted this during the rainy season around August-October, along with grasses in a slightly shady area and also on the open ground covered with thick dry leaves mat. In the open area the plant was numerous.

Notes:

I guess, it belongs to orchid family. But not sure.

@maradithayamb Thank you so much. May I know how you identified it?
Thank you. Hopefully I get to see them this monsoon. I don't know how to identify that plant, tried with few apps and all.
Very interesting! I would say those are immature seed pods developing, that's what they look like to me. I'm fairly certain this is not an orchid.
