Field Notes

Description:

A strange little moth about 22mm long. It had totally clear wings which were fluttering continuously. Male.. interesting abdominal appendages? only one good shot before it flew off.

Habitat:

On the stem of a 'weed' 50cm tall asteraceae in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

This is very likely to be Clania lewinii as the cases found abundantly in the area were C lewinii as were the source food types for this species. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/856126002
The only thing that puts me off is the dorsal view revealed a yellow 'V' shape jacket over the thorax. Sorry no photo.
