Field Notes

Notes:

Taking photos or woodpeckers can be hard. Like most birds, they tend not to stay still for very long. Red-bellieds are a little easier to shoot than others. Maybe it is their size...they don't seem to be as jittery...or maybe it is their determination at getting to food; whatever the reason, I find it more enjoyable to photograph them than the other woodpeckers I come across. This little girl gave me several good shots.

@HeatherMiller - Thank you and I am sure you will get the shot. It just takes a lot of patience.
Lovely female. I seem to have 2 pairs who visit my feeders and one pair is building a nice nest in a dead tree in the backyard. I will strive to get as good a picture of these two, as you did of the Pileated Woodpecker. (fingers crossed).
