Field Notes

Description:

Orange, round, smooth. Shrivels when dried. Initially thought they were oranges when they had the husk on. About 2 inches in diameter.

Habitat:

Lots of trees, some bushes, lots of moss, next to a park with a grass lawn and a man-made pond, and bordered by houses.

Notes:

Is it a chestnut?

We brought one back with us to class and it shriveled when dried, then got slimy when rehydrated.
