Thanks, Uday! You have a great collection of critters!
amazing! btw thanks for following me :)
Thanks! And thanks for letting me know, Karen. What a nice blog post about African moths! PN is awesome. :-)
Congratulations Bernadette, your lovely moth is featured in the Project Noah blog today - http://blog.projectnoah.org/
@jgorneau~ Thanks for the links! I see the dot you are speaking of. So we'll keep this ID. And your common name! :-) So much nicer than Drab anything.
A handsome moth. I can see where the idea of a pyramid came from =)
I checked the links again. O. tirhaca is definitely it in my eyes! :)
No problem! I was having trouble distinguishing O. tirhaca and O. legendrei, though I came to the conclusion of O. tirhaca because it, as in your spotting has a small black dot on the inside of the forewing. This mark is absent in O. legendrei. Here are the links if you would like to see for yourself. O. tirhaca http://africanmoths.com/pages/NOCTUIIDAE/CATACALINAE/ophiusa%20tirhaca.htm O. legendrei http://africanmoths.com/pages/NOCTUIIDAE/CATACALINAE/ophiusa%20legendrei.htm And if you are ever unsure of my suggestion, you can always keep it a genus, Ophiusa sp., per say. You are very, very welcome, and I am glad to put a name to this beautiful moth. It's common name is actually Green Drab, which I think is highly offensive to the moth, so I have suggested the common name as Egyptian Noctuid. You can change it to whatever you want if you'd like! Enjoy! You have an amazing collection!
Yes, I just tried again to delete and upload. Hope it's showing now!
Hi Bernadette, I still cannot see the first image. Did you delete it and re-upload that image?
Thanks, KarenL and Ismael! NuwanChaturanga - is the first photo loading for you now?
