Field Notes

Description:

This caterpillar was on a Cassia bicapsularis 'Buttercream' with two Argentine ants ( Linepithema humile) checking out his face.

Habitat:

Plant sale nursery at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, CA.

Notes:

The ants seemed a bit confused, trying to figure out if the caterpillar was part of the plant or something else. It was cool watching them taste his face with their tongues.
