Field Notes

Description:

Wingspan approx. 45~50mm. Female of a species I spotted previously.

Habitat:

This one was near a small river in tall grasses on the steep banks. Please follow the links provided for more details.

Notes:

Obviously a swallowtail of some sort, but I'm not finding much info on what's in S. Korea.

It is a special pleasure for me to give you my ID #8000!! Papilionidae, Parnassinae, Luehdorfiini, Sericinus montela, female (!). An extremely complex and variable group of swallowtails. There are many subspecies around. Yours looks a little bit worn, so the markings are no more so strong.
