Field Notes

Description:

Large, heavy billed, broad-winged and relatively short tailed. Uniform dark body and yellow breast. (From The Sibley's Guide to Birds by David Allen Sibley)

Habitat:

I found this bird near the recharge pond on the southeast side of Chandler Veteran's Desert Oasis Park. This picture was taken at 5:03PM about and hour before sunset.

Notes:

I'm not sure if the ID is correct but it was the closest I could find in Sibley's. On a previous visit to this park with the Maricopa Audubon Society we found this bird on the Northern edge of the park in a Sorghum field. There were probably about 40-100 birds at this location.
