Field Notes

Description:

Lichen Field Notes
------------------------------------------
The lichen I am looking is a lavender-greenish- blue color. It was kind of
flakey. I believe it is a foliose lichen. It was about 7 cm wide. It was more green
in the middle and got more blue as it spread out. When it spread out, it kind of
looked like branches. I think my lichen might be a Anzia Colpodes but I am not positive. It was on a tree, further into the woods.

Habitat:

It grows on trees.

Notes:

It was zero degrees when we went outside. It was freezing!!
We went in the snow to look for lichen on trees. Some were different colors
like green, white, blue, and orange. All of them grew on either trees or
stumps.
