Field Notes

Description:

The particular lichen species I found is green and grey and found on a tree. I found it in a temperate area. The thallus was scaly. I found this lichen on a alive tree and it was on the trail right when you walk up to the start of the trail and turn right, it’s right there.

Habitat:

It was on a trail in a forest. The forest had mostly oak and Birch trees in it, it had snow on the ground about 2 inches of it. It was very cold and windy out.
Temp 4ºc
Wind Speed: 15mph
Gusts: 30mph
cloud cover: very cloudy

Notes:

We went outside on the trail to try to find lichen to identify them. It was really cold and windy out, there was still snow on the ground too. We had to look on trees or anywhere where we could find lichen to identify it. Once we snapped some pictures of different types of lichen we had to go back inside to try to identify what kind it is.
