Field Notes

Description:

This spotting is of several individuals of Phasmid from the same specie, all seen during a night hike.
They are small in size, Adult Males (Pic #1) is around 4 cm and Adult Females (Pic #2) is around 5 cm. When newly hatched, they could be around 1 cm in size only and very thin like needle. Pic#6 is probably of 2nd Instar, a bit over 1 cm in length.

Both Male & Female Adults have bright red wings but only the Males are able to fly. The Females are too heavy/big to fly with their small wings.
In Pics #3, #4 & #5, tiny red wing buds can be seen.

Habitat:

Tropical forest

Notes:

Pic #1 - Adult Male
Pic #2 - Adult Female
Pic #3 - Sub-Adult Male
Pic #4 - Probably 5th Instar
Pic #5 - Probably 4th Instar
Pic #6 - Probably 2nd Instar
