Field Notes

Description:

Large white swan with salmon pink beak -hisses rather than whistles. Native to europe, often domesticated

Habitat:

park pond

Notes:

Taken on a walk with my dog, who thought all the birds were there for her amusement. Much to the amusement of some onlookers this beauty backed her up by hissing and coming close to shore where we were standing(yes the dog was leashed)

The next swan picture I upload will be our local(and occasional) winter residents: whistling swans. We get a few almost every year. This year I counted close to 60 in two separate groups
