I can upload more photos of these if I figure how to merge the posts
I think it looks like a Mules Ear also, but I'm not sure the leaves are serrated on those.
Look at balsamroot flowers and mule's ear flowers. They can both grow in Iowa but you can probably narrow it down using details on the leaf shapes and such. It's hard to tell more from the photo since the detail is limited to the bloom itself.
