Field Notes

Description:

Large kelp, thick stipe, feels like carpet when touched. Stipe is flat. Blades come for the sides of the stipe, giving this kelp its feather boa-like appearance. Typically dark brown.

Habitat:

Intertidal to Subtidal

Notes:

This guy was pretty high up in the intertidal, but in a place that was pretty much constantly in the water.
