Field Notes

Description:

Green Praying Mantis, approximately 3 inches (8cm) in length. Flat, leaf shaped abdomen. Grasping raptorial front limbs, 2 pairs of walking limbs. Wings tucked away beneath scutes. Short antennae.

Habitat:

Found on outside uncovered porch after a rain. Later seen in shrubbery and vines.

Notes:

Was possibly coming to drink water from pools standing on floor mat after the rain. When I showed an interest in the insect and attempted to photograph it Bruce the Labrador/pit mix came to inspect her.
