Notes:

This bird flew over our house today (Sunshine Coast, Queensland) - it was very high, so I can't really say how big it is.

Great photo Shanna... he's certainly not leucogaster yet... maybe in a year or two.
I should have known because I used to see lots of Sea Eagles in Asia and when I saw the tail I thought Eagle straight away but it appeared to be too dark. Shanna, you have some excellent pictures, keep up the good work.
They do look very similar malcom. It was a good suggestion
No worries at all Malcolm, I appreciate any help I can get - I wasn't even sure where to start!
I was looking at the dark shoulders which the Osprey always has and they looked too dark for the eagle on this picture. Was concerned that the tail did not look right for an osprey though. I will remove my suggestion and go with yours. Apologies for the confusion.
Alice - I think you're right. Thank you both for your input!
Ospreys have distinct white bellies. Comparison Osprey - http://goo.gl/N2UI9 Juvenile white breasted sea eagle - http://goo.gl/Es4Uq
Juvenile white breasted sea eagles are very different in appearance to adults so while this looks nothing like an adult sea eagle it looks exactly like a juvenile
