Description:
The cap is pale green-yellow to gray-brown to dark red-brown sometimes with olivaceous tints and often darkest in the center. It is 70-97 mm wide, and often lined with distinct dark radial fibers. The gills have a faint line and a small downward projection on the top of the stem.The stem is cream white above and bellow the ring.
Habitat:
Amanita is found throughout much of eastern north America from Canada to Florida, west to Michigan and Texas. It grows in the woods and on the ground this was in the backyard of my old house.
Notes:
The season is July to October. Amanita brunnescens, also known as the brown American star-footed Amanita or cleft-footed amanita is a native North American mushroom. This picture was taken around 530 in the evening in my backyard.
