Field Notes

Description:

Mother and one week old foal.

Habitat:

Open savannah with grass and sufficient water.

Notes:

As single foal is born any time after a gestation period of approximately 12 1/2 months peaking in summer. (just around the corner here in the southern hemisphere).

The body is white with dark stripes alternating with lighter shadow stripes. Each individual has its own distinct pattern of stripes.
