Mantis Ootheca

This was a 20mm oval-shaped cocoon with coarse matted orange/brown coloured material arranged almost in segments on either side of a flattened bare linear strip. The median strip had a zig-zag pattern along its length as if the two sides were sutured together.
The "cocoon" tapered off to one end and on the other end there was a small opening. Around the opening there appeared to what looked like dried-up foam.
Pic #3 shows some of the orange material stretched along the wall to one side and above the cocoon.
The cocoon also seems to have a whitish underlying matrix. The "cocoon" felt firm and hard.
