Longheaded Toothpick Grasshopper
Achurum carinatum
30.4694, -83.6302
Field Notes
Description:
Very unique looking grasshopper which comes in green or brown. The mouth is on the underside of the elongated head, and the antenna are wide connecting to head and go into a thin point.
Habitat:
They seem to be pretty common here in the South. Both brown and green have been photographed in Georgia and Florida.
Notes:
In the first photo, just above its leg, you can see its mouth near the leaf.
The second photo is looking at it head-on, so you can see its somewhat flattened head.
