Field Notes

Description:

After maturity (about 4 years), white head and tail. Otherwise mostly dark brown.

Notes:

It's not every day that I come across a mature bald eagle perched in a tree only about 20 feet away. And the fact he stayed there and let me snap some shots for about 5 minutes, is almost unheard of. It was actually too close to get the whole bird in my frame with a 400mm lens.

In the profile shot you can see the glow of the sun on the bill from behind the bird.
