Description:
Uromastyx are primarily herbivorous, but occasionally eat insects, especially when young. They spend most of their waking hours basking in the sun, hiding in underground chambers at daytime or when danger appears.
Habitat:
They tend to establish themselves in hilly, rocky areas with good shelter and accessible vegetation.
In Egypt, associated with Acacia trees.
Notes:
The lizard had just recently been caught by a young Bedouin man - to either provide entertainment for visiting tourists, to sell, or to eat. Couldn't get a straight answer out of him, but Bedouin do eat the Egyptian Dabb Lizard.
