Small forest plant. Red with alternating red leaves, small red flower with orange tips; 4 petals.

Habitat:

Temperate forest, Northern Michigan

Notes:

This flower is usually found in a light pink or yellow, this red color is rare.

You seem to have a parasitic plant here, but I can't easily find it. Possibly a colored form of Monotropa?
