The cap is shell-shaped, white and hairy. The gills are pale creamish

Habitat:

Forest. In a dead tree branch.

I would suggest Schizophyllum Commune, because of the hairy cap, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schizophyllum
Uff when it comes to fungi I honestly have no idea. You may be right, is hard for me to say :-)
