Field Notes

Description:

Small dragonfly. Dark with bright orange markings on the dorsal abdomen. Yellow striping on the side of the thorax. This species is quite variable in coloration. They are one of the only species that breed in salt water.

Habitat:

Meadow bordering temperate forest (salt-marsh habitat within the park as well). Gardiner County Park, New York.
