Description:
The collared lizard is a colorful lizard often being kept as pet (this one is wild). The bright color indicates that this is a male. This lizard is around 8-9 inches long. The lizard is named after the black collars around its neck.
Habitat:
Spotted in rocky dry mountain area near big rocks.
Notes:
Definitely the favorite spotting during my road trip. Met this guy posing for us on the way back from the Delicate Arch. One of the most colorful lizards I've seen in the wild.
The National Park website seem to suggest that this is a Western Collared Lizard. Searched online for a while. Couldn't figure out the difference between Eastern Collared Lizards and Western Collared Lizard.
