Field Notes

Habitat:

Typically nest in forested areas adjacent to large bodies of water, staying away from heavily developed areas when possible. May congregate around fish processing plants, dumps, and below dams where fish concentrate, preferring tall, mature coniferous or deciduous trees for perching.

Notes:

There were quite a few adults and juveniles enjoying the abundance of salmon that were coming into this hatchery. With the eagles there were also crows, harbor seals, and gulls. this was one of our tour stops on an Alaskan cruise.
