The seeds inside are very beautiful but the skin is also the source of the poison Ricin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castor_oil_plant
Hi Luis, that image clearly shows the serrated leaves which means this isn't Achiote. I'll look at one of my reference books tomorrow and see what I can find. Have a good night.
Hi Cindy, I croped the 5th photo where you can see some flowers (I think).
This reminds me of Achiote (Bixa Orellana) but your leaves look serrated, not smooth. Were there any flowers on it?
