Siberian Stonechat

Hi Aditi , the Common Stonechat (Saxicola torquatus) is considered to be a super species and the Siberian Stone chat is a sub species,it breeds in the winter season in our parts .

Hello Aditi & Emilie, I discussed this with Atul because he thought it was a Stonechat and asked my advice. As soon as I saw it I said Stonechat, it did not look right for a Wheatear but it did look very like the Stonechats which winter here in Iberia. This is what we found: the wheatear has more white on the lower belly and a clearer eyestripe and also the wheatears wingtips would be further down the tail.

I spent 6 years in Nagpur,5 in Poona.2 in Solapur,,in and out of Bombay.My childhood. The eco system was very rich and we had amazing wild life then. I can't even express in words how beautiful the surroundings were including Juhu beach. Therefore I feel the loss considerably.
