@C.Sydes - Thanks for that clarification! I was researching Aster yesterday but couldn't confirm anything...
A type of Michaelmas daisy. American species used to be classified along with their european cousins under the genus Aster but now the American ones have been seperated into a number of different genera and Aster refers to only the European species. see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aster_(genus)
