Based on the characteristics, I think this lichen is British Soldier. This lichen has a small greenish- yellow stem with a small red ball on top. I found the tiny patch of lichen on a piece of wood that had fallen down and that was covered in snow. The wood that the lichen was on, I found about half way in the woods. The patch of british soldier was 1 cm (10 mm) big.
