Field Notes

Description:

I divided them into sets, These were perching in our Oak tree, the others in the Holly. They would whirl up in a cloud and circle and come down again clinging to the edges of the tree.

Habitat:

Rather nomadic except for when they are nesting.

Awesome fact Leuba. You made me like these birds more than I already do!
Just saw them in western nc mtns last week way early! But always a thrill great pics!
What lovely birds ! - I just read this about them on Wikipedia "When the end of a twig holds a supply of berries that only one bird at a time can reach, members of a flock may line up along the twig and pass berries beak to beak down the line so that each bird gets a chance to eat"
Wow! Alice..send them over to my house...that must have been great to see.
Awesome Alice . You truly captured the beauty of the birds.
nice group shot in the second photo
Wow, so many of them! They must have been a delight to watch!
