Field Notes

Description:

Fern with lobed fronds and two rows of sori (groups of spore cases) on the backside visible on the front by the indentations. The sori are golden and are seen in photos two and five.

Habitat:

Rocky hillside along trail at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve

Notes:

"This polypody anchors with a scaly rhizome. It produces oval to triangular leaves up to 70 centimeters in length and 20 in width. Each leaf is made up of many dull-pointed lance-shaped segments which may be thin or firm or somewhat fleshy, and have lightly serrated edges." - Wikipedia
