Description:

I found this lichen, that I believe is Parmelia Sulcata or “Shield Lichen”, off the side of the road 18.288m (20 yards) Inward. It was 0˚ celcius and the lichen was growing on a fallen branch in the shade. The lichen has a Grey color and was growing flat against against the branch. The patch was 8cm in diameter and had flat dry leafy structure. 1/18/12 was the date we found this lichen. The reasons that I think this lichen is Parmelia Sulcata is that Parmelia Sulcata is that P. Sulcata is naturally gray and stays that color throughout it's lifetime. The other reason is that P. Sulcata has Bur Oak shaped leaves. Another reason is that P. Sulcata grows in in flat round patches that will expand to larger patches later on. My lichen meats all of these specifications.

Anybody who has something to correct me on , please do. I am open to rebuke.
These are two kinds of Lichens, as far as I would judge it. I'll try some research on it...
