Field Notes

Description:

Small nest in progress. Last image shows how hidden it is. "The round, 3.8-to-5.1-centimetre (1.5 to 2.0 in) diameter nest is built of very small twigs, lichen and other mosses, and often lined with downy feathers or animal hair. The nest materials are bound together with spider silk or other sticky materials." - Wikipedia

Habitat:

Hidden in bush on small branches.

Notes:

The bird building the nest can be seen at my other spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8899867

I plan on going weekly now that I know it's here. I found another one that was built last year on a different trail that I'll be checking on too :)
How neat is that!! You'll have to keep us updated with progress! Great sighting!
Thanks Leuba. I saw the hummingbird land in the bush then saw it had something in its beak. I watched it go back and forth building this little masterpiece :)
