Field Notes

Description:

The Australian water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii, is an arboreal agamid species native to eastern Australia from Victoria northwards to Queensland.

This one was basking on a rock by a creek, very aware of me, but not moving except to follow me with its eyes! The tail is exceptionally long and thin compared to the size of the body.

Habitat:

Large home garden near a creek, in sub-tropical rainforest
