Description:

After a little research it turned out, that our village had a silk production long time ago. This one seems to be a survivor, so there still must be a rather small popluation of them. All in all they are very rare and not often seen. This one is from our garden and it´s the only one, I´ve ever seen.

Habitat:

Our garden in Austria

Thanks, haven´t noticed that before.
Sorry, should be Antheraea yamamai.
Saturniidae. This species was introduced in Europe in the last century for silk production. Yours is a yellow form female. After the cessation of the silk production some colonies could survive and would now spread out in optimal climate.
